The Fair will be held July 29 – August 2, 2009, with the parade scheduled for Saturday, August 1st. Sign up for vendor booths now! Get those floats and parade entries ready. A Step Ahead Center is looking for a part time employee to start in the middle of July. Hours to begin with will be 2:30 to 6:30. Hours will probably increase to about 7.5 hours per day with a 1/2 unpaid lunch around September 1. Pay starts at $7.25 per hour. Contact Dan at 253-3083.

Spectacular Fireworks in Springfield
The weather was certainly chilly and damp on July 4th this year, but plenty of Springfield folks celebrated Independence Day with get-togethers and fireworks. It was reported that this year was the second coldest July 4th recorded in our area. It was a good evening for hot cocoa!

First Annual Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament
July 24, 2009 – Registration begins at 11:30; Shot Gun Start at 1 pm;
Willow Lakes Golf Course, 12301 S 25th St., Bellevue, NE
Tee off for a great cause!
The first annual Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament will take place July 24th and you are invited!
Bring your own foursome, or partner up with fellow golfers at the course. Either way you are sure to have a great afternoon while you raise money for the Veterans Memorial planned for the campus of the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue.
The Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Willow Lakes Golf Course, 12301 S 25th St., about a mile south of Highway 370 in Bellevue. Check-in begins at 11:30 am with a shot gun start at 1 pm. An Awards Dinner will follow at 6:30 pm at the American Legion Post 331, 4830 S 21st Street, in South Omaha.
Registration is $75 per golfer or $300 for a foursome. Registration includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, the chance to win great prizes and an invitation to the Awards Dinner.
Holes can be sponsored for $50 each. Sponsors are also invited to donate merchandise as flag prizes.

Manley, NE –Lofte Community Theatre
The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley will be holding auditions for its production of, "Over the River and Through the Woods," on Monday, July 20th and Tuesday, July 21st at 7:00PM. The production will run weekends between August 28 and September 13.
The play is set in New Jersey and revolves around the young and single "Nick" who has Sunday dinner with both sets of grandparents every week. When Nick receives an offer for his dream job that would move him away from his family, his grandparents embark upon a series of schemes to keep him around! Parts for 3 men and 3 women.
