Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare is sponsoring a FREE Teen Drug Prevention Seminar at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo on Saturday, August 14, 2010. Participants will receive free Zoo entry for the event, a free T-Shirt, and a free lunch! We have opened up this training to ALL NEBRASKAresidents between the ages of 13 to 19 on a first come basis! SPACE IS LIMITED! We will cut off registration once we meet our maximum number of registrants.

BENEFIT CONCERT

CONCERT WITH THE CONFIDENTIALS TO BENEFIT

LOCAL VETERANS MEMORIAL GARDEN

 
Show our local military veterans how much you care while you dance the night away under the moonlit starry skies!!
 
The Confidentials, one of the region's premier party bands will bring their soulful blend of funk, jazz and reggae to Sumtur Amphitheater on Aug. 20th for an evening of singing, dancing and a rockin' good time! The band will be performing at a benefit concert for the Veterans Memorial planned for the campus of the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue. The whole town is invited, so this is a party you won't want to miss!
 
When: Aug. 20, 2010. Gates open at 6pm. The concert begins at 7pm.
 
Where: Sumtur Amphitheater, 11691 S. 108th St., Papillion, NE (about 1 mile south of Highway 370 on 108th St.)
 
Why: To benefit the Veterans Memorial at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, Bellevue, NE
 
Admission: Reserved Seating, $15; General Seating, $10 Concessions will be available.

Pictured are two of the 108 quilts made by 4-Hers and volunteers as part of the 2010 Care & Share project.  10 quilts (bidders’ choice from the 108 quilts) will be sold when silent auction bidding closes at 9:30 P.M. at the Cass County Fair, Saturday, August 14, in the 4-H Building on the fairgrounds. Proceeds will help fund the 2011 Care & Shareproject.  Bids may be submitted during the fair (August 11-14).  The remaining quilts will be donated to emergency services in Cass and Sarpy Counties and to those in need

Performance Techniques Workshop

A Performance Techniques Workshop for musicians who want to share their music-making with others is scheduled for Saturday, August 7, from 1 PM - 3 PM, in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse, in picturesque Avoca, Nebraska. This will be a wonderful opportunity for players of all ages to learn to channel their nerves, and to communicate with an audience. Participants should prepare a short piece to play for their fellow classmates. Memorization is optional. Pre-registration for the workshop is required. CONTEST FIDDLING WORKSHOP
A Contest Fiddling Workshop for fiddlers who want to compete in fiddle contests is scheduled for Saturday, September 11, from 1 PM - 3 PM, in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse, in picturesque Avoca, Nebraska. This will be a wonderful opportunity for fiddlers of all ages to learn to choose appropriate tunes, work with their back-up players, and to communicate with an audience. Participants should prepare a tune or two to play for their fellow fiddlers. Memorization is optional. Pre-registration for the workshop is required.
