School Board Makes Plans for Appointment
The South Sarpy School District #46 Board of Education has decided to replace 6-year veteran Todd Neitzel in an open process. Neitzel resigned his position as Board member in November and has two years left on his term. The Board is currently working with 5 members.
The process will include an application period and interviews, with the final selection being appointed by the Board. Any eligible registered voter and resident of the school district may apply. Letters of interest should include information about the person’s background (i.e. years in district, connections to school) and the reasons for applying for the Board position. It can also include any other details the person wants to include. If there are multiple applicants, the letters may be used to narrow the field of candidates. Letters must be postmarked by December 31, 2010 and can be mailed to: Dr. Chuck Chevalier, South Sarpy School District #46, 14801 S. 108th St., Springfield, NE 68059.
The Board may select those applicants to interview or interview all applicants. Interviews, which will occur in an open Board meeting, are tentatively set for January 6, 2011 at a time to be announced later. The Board may make a final decision that night, or they may wait until the regular meeting on January 10th. The new Board member will be sworn in and seated immediately upon appointment.
Any questions may be directed to Dr. Chuck Chevalier, Superintendent, at 402-592-1300.

XEROX IS DOING SOMETHING COOL
If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com yo u can pick out a thank
you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently
serving in Iraq. You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.
How AMAZING it would be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!
It is FREE and it only takes a second.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?
Whether you are for or against the war, our soldiers over there need to know we are behind them.
This takes just 10 seconds and it's a wonderful way to say thank you.
Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you's.
Thanks for taking to time to support our military!
SARPY COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT HOSTS
SHOP WITH A SHERIFF
Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis and approximately 25 members of his department hosted a “Shop with the Sheriff” event on Tuesday, December 21 at the Wal Mart Store, 11350 Wickersham Blvd, near Gretna located at the H. 370 exit of I-80 (Exit #439). The event was held from 4 PM to 6 PM. Numerous underprivileged children attended to participate and enjoy the time with deputies while being able to shop for their Christmas wishes.
This event would not be possible without the support of the Wal Mart store and Store manager Jamie Thompson.
A special visit was also made by Santa Claus, who during business hours is also known as Lt. Steve Grabowski. Pictures and Christmas wishes were provided. The children and their parents were also provided with Pizza and snacks after their shopping spree.

“GREETINGS”
Opens Winter Theater Season
KBC Productions announces that it will open the winter theater season at Mahoney State Park on December 3 with Tom Dudzick’s touching Christmas drama, “Greetings.” All performances take place at the Kountze Memorial Theater near the lodge inside of Mahoney State Park.
Greetings is the story of a mentally handicapped man named Mickey. He lives at home with his sweet Catholic mother and sour Catholic father. When older brother, Andy brings home a Jewish fiancée to meet his family on Christmas Eve, he fears the worst. However, that evening a small miracle occurs. Mickey, whose entire vocabulary consists of “Oh boy,” and “Wow,” suddenly blurts out, “Greetings!” the whole family is left to wonder how this is possible. It is a gentle heart-warming story for the whole family.
The production is directed by Kevin Colbert of Weeping Water. Starring in the production are Jim Knierim of Louisville, Stacy White and Shari Hoelker of Omaha and Chuck Danskin of Lincoln. Reprising the role of Mickey for the third time is Jim Frerichs of rural Dunbar.
Performances for “Greetings” are Dec 3-5, 10-12, 17-19 and 26-30. Adult tickets are $8. Children are priced at $6. Reservations can be made by calling Mahoney State Park at (402) 944-2523 ext. 7122. Curtain times are at 7:30pm except for Dec 5, 19 which are 2pm Sunday matinee performances. Mahoney State Park is located just off exit 426 on I-80 near the towns of Ashland and South Bend.
