The Art Quilt Exhibit and Sale at Springfield Artworks has been extended until June 25 due to it's popularity.  Margie Trembley, co-owner of Springfield Artworks said the response has been great.  "People walk in the door of our gallery and say "Wow".  That makes it all worthwhile."

 Later in the year "A Touch of Japan," an exhibit of all things Japanese will be hosted by Springfield Artworks.  "Our interest in this fascinating country and it's people has made it possible for us to showcase some lovely Japanese pieces and photographs."

 lasses continue at the gallery throughout the Spring and Summer months.  If you don't see a class that you are interested in, just ask us.  We can arrange to schedule just what you are looking for.

 There will be almost no interruptions at the Gallery during the construction on Main Street. Sidewalk will be always available for our customers.

May 28 It's a Beetle Happening 10:30am -11:15 or 11:30 (class size 5 max)

Spring is here and you too can have your own beetle bug just for your room.  Kids will love decorating this really cool guy. Ages 10+

June 15 It's your Choice 10:30- 11:15 or 11:30 (class size 5 max)

Decorate your own banner for your room or a felted picture frame. Only pink banners available. Ages 10+

June 21 Glass Dragonfly for Teens 10:30-noon  (class size 5 max)

Dragon Flies are fun to make.  In this class we will be using colored crushed glass placed in a mold and kiln fired.  Some cold working after firing will be necessary to finish off your work of art.  This can be done when you pick up your dragon fly.  This class will take one firing in the kiln. $35 class fee includes all materials and kiln firing. If students wish to add dicroic glass there will be an additional fee.

 

All kids classes are $15 but the teen class is $35.

All fees for registration must be paid one week prior to the class date.  Payment by cash or check only. March registration and fee need to be done  by Saturday, March 26.

Lofte Community Theatre

Annie Auditions

The Lofte Community Theatre will be holding auditions for its summer musical, "Annie" at 2pm and 7pm on Sunday, May 8, and 7pm on Monday, May 9.  There are six roles available for girls ages 7-13.  It is suggested that children come to the Sunday afternoon audition session.  There are roles for eight men and eight women of various ages.  A complete cast list can be found on the Lofte website, www.Lofte.com.

The production will be directed by Kevin Colbert.  Those who audition should bring a prepared song of no more than one minute in length.  An accompanist is provided.  Dress comfortably and wear appropriate shoes for dancing.  If necessary, callbacks will be held between May 10 and May 12.  Rehearsals will begin as early as June 6.  Production dates for the play are July 22-August 7.

GREENBLATT & SEAY SCHEDULE

 

HARMONICA WORKSHOP/CONCERT

David Seay, Master Artist with the Nebraska Arts Council, will be presenting a Harmonica Workshop/Concert on Sunday, May 8, at 2:30 PM in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.

The concert will be downstairs in The Old Avoca Schoolhouse, and  followed by light refreshments, and a jam session with the performers.  Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur,  one mile south of Highway 34. Admission is $5.00 for adults, and $1.00 for children and students. SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLE CAMP

Registration is now open for the 2011 Schoolhouse Fiddle Camps, in the Old Avoca Schoolhouse, in Avoca, Nebraska.  Deborah Greenblatt, championship fiddler, author of many fiddle collections, will help the campers get in touch with their inner fiddler.  The course of study during the Schoolhouse Fiddle Camps will be designed specifically for the individual campers who sign up.

Fiddle Camp for Beginners is Monday, June 13 - Friday, June 17.  

Fiddle Camp for Intermediate/Advanced Fiddlers is Monday, July 11 - Friday, July 15.

Each day is scheduled from 9 AM - 1 PM.  Registration is available on line at www.greenblattandseay.com.

The historic Old Avoca Schoolhouse was built in 1925, and has been the home of the Schoolhouse Performance Series since 1990.  Music lessons, workshops, fiddle camps, and field trips are offered by Schoolhouse residents, Greenblatt & Seay, and are available by appointment.
