MASTER GARDENERS

Starting April 6th from 9:00 - 11:30 am on Thursday mornings the Master Gardeners of the Sarpy County Fair Garden will be available to answer your gardening questions.  Of course, this all depends on the glorious Nebraska weather. Gotta love that rain! So, if you have spots, rots, or can't figure what to put in those pots come on down.  We can even show you how to pull a weed or two or ten.

LIVE INTERACTIVE IMPROV AT THE LOFTE!

Saturday, April 1 will be a lively interactive evening of comedy at the Lofte Community Theatre.  The improv comedy troupe, “Big Canvas” will showcase its talents during “Whose Lofte is it Anyway?” at 7pm.

Modeled after the popular Drew Carey show, “Whose Line is it Anyway?” this is a fun, family-friendly night of improv that pulls audience members onstage.  Crazy situations and colorful characterizations will have you and your friends in stitches.

Tickets for the event are only $10.  Advance reservations are suggested, but tickets will be available at the door as well.

LOFTE PLAYERS ARE STATE CHAMPIONS!

This past summer the Lofte Community Theatre entered Nebraska’s one-act play contest.  “Shakespeare’s a D#@k,” is a competition piece by Mark Kenneally about a redneck who wakes up after a heavy night of boozing to find that he can only speak in Shakespearian verse.  Directed by Allison Bauers of Louisville, the cast and crew took home several awards including State Champion, Best Supporting Actress (Silvia Conley), Best Supporting Actor (Doug Rothgeb) and Best Set Design (Nick Haussler).

The Lofte production has now qualified to compete in the Region V American Association of Community Theaters Festival being held April 27-30 in Brainerd, MN.  There, the Lofte will compete against seven other theaters including the best from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota and South Dakota.  Winners of that competition will advance to the National competition being held in June.

The Lofte is currently undergoing a fundraising campaign to raise capital to offset travel and competition expenses.  To donate, please contact the box office at 402.234.2553 or visit their GoFundMe page.
