We survived the Blizzard of March, 2007. I hope those who had to be out and about during the storm made it home safe and sound. The sustained winds certainly made this winter storm last far too long, especially for the folks living out in the rural areas. Hopefully, this was our last big snow. I am longing to mow the lawn right about now, so…bring on Spring!
March is American Red Cross Month. This organization responds to all disasters, provides disaster preparedness education, serves as a bridge between blood donors and patients who need blood, and provides services to the military and their families. The Heartland Chapter assists persons in Douglas, Sarpy, Cass, Washington and Saunders. Typically, our area chapter responds to more than 200 disasters per year, mostly home and apartment fires. The good, the bad and the ugly! The new mall in Papillion is opening up. It’s nice not to have to drive so far for those shopping trips, but the city seems to getting too close for comfort. I like being countrified ( Is that a word?). We must remember to support our local businesses. Look up what is available in Springfield on this website.
