What’s New in Springfield, NE
June 13, 2007
This Sunday, June 17th, we honor our Dads. Father’s Day gives a chance to celebrate fathers, grandfathers, step fathers, or anyone who acted as a father figure in your life. My own father was the person who instilled in me the value of working hard and the importance of family. I remember fun times with my Dad…like how he always took us to see the fireworks display on July 4th, the time he let me guide the sled and I almost crashed into a tree (that did get him a little upset), and going with him to Sears to shop for tools. Those outings prepared me to be the future wife of a Sears tool shopper. Be sure to remember your special father this Sunday.

Mulberry trees are now producing fruit. Remember those trees that resulted in purple stained shoes or feet, mouths, and clothes when you were a kid. Ripe mulberries can be used to make pies, jams, puddings, and sauces. Most kids like to eat them straight off the tree. As an adult, I prefer to wash them first!
