June 20, 2007
Summer begins this week and the weather is right on target. Highs in the 90’s will keep us hot and sticky. Where’s the rain? Our area seems to be missing all the storms. Just a little shower will do, please!
Skateboarders, celebrate! June 21 is National Go Skateboarding Day. Skateboarders everywhere take the opportunity to get together and skate. The mission of this day is to have fun. Sounds great! We can all use some excitement in our lives.

Filming for the Springfield Simpson’s Movie Challenge took place in our town last Friday. Towns named Springfield around the country are competing to win this contest. A 3-5 min. film will be submitted highlighting our small exceptional town in Nebraska. Good luck Springfield, NE on its chance to win the chance to premiere “The Simpson’s Movie” right here in the Heartland of America.
A fun opportunity for kids (and parents) to read is happening at the Springfield Memorial Library. On Thursday morning from 9:00 – 12:00, the Summer Reading Tent is set up outside the library for visitors to read. Books are provided, as well as, a comfy spot to relax and explore books. Teen volunteers help set up the tent and assist library staff during the tent’s open hours. Thank you to the Nebraska Library Commission for providing funds for this program.

It’s a fun time at the Springfield Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Tent.
