In August we observe, Eye Exam Month and Immunization Awareness Month. It’s important to have eyes checked on a regular basis for both children and adults. Keeping those immunizations up to date will protect you from many diseases. It’s getting closer, kids! It’s almost back to school time. Schedule for your appointments today.

Visit the Sarpy County Fair and Rodeo in Springfield, NE August 1st – 5th. The fair begins today. Food, Fun and Family is what it’s all about. This year the Sarpy County 150 Sesquicentennial will also be celebrated during the fair. Have you heard the news? A restaurant for Springfield will be opening soon. Situated in the old Dew Drop Inn on Main St. will be the new Fabulous Dew Drop Inn. With quite an impressive menu, this restaurant will be a fabulous addition to our town. For a peak preview of a sample menu, stop by the library to pick up a copy. Can’t wait for the grand opening!

The city of Springfield sponsored a Fire Hydrant Party for the kids on Friday, July 27th. Kids gathered on 3rd & Elm St. to cool off on a hot day as fire fighter, Tim Trumble, supervised the party site. What a splendid way to spend a summer afternoon! Thanks to city officials and the fire department for a fun time.


Congratulations to the Springfield Comets! The Comets were runners up and received the silver medal in the 2007 Cornhusker State Games in Lincoln, NE. The Springfield Comets lost to the Lincoln Lightning 5-3 in the Under 8 Championship game. The Comets won 3 games and lost 1 in the two day tourney.

August 1-5 Sarpy County Fair & Rodeo at the Fairgrounds in Springfield

August 1, 7pm – Platteview Boosters Club Meeting

August 13 – Practice begins for Platteview High fall sports

August 14 – School Begins -First day of classes

August 14, 11:30am – Senior Brown Bag Lunch at Springfield Memorial Library

August 25, 7 – 9pm 2nd Annual Swine on the Vine at Soaring Wings Vineyard $25 per person. Enjoy food, wine and music at an old fashioned pig roast. And don’t forget, the Friday Night Music Series continues through Sept. 14th. Free Acoustics Sunday is held 1-4pm with live music by a solo artist.
