What’s New in Springfield, NE

September 5, 2007

September is here! Doesn’t it now feel like summer is over, although the calendar says that we have to wait until September 23rd this year? Pools are now closed. Schools are in session. Football season is here. (Go Huskers!!!) Summer flowers are waning. Cooler evenings and mornings help us weather the still warm days.

Celebrate National Apple Month this month and since 1996, in October and November, also. Apples are fat, sodium and cholesterol free. Remember “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”! I’ll be keeping that in mind when I’m eating that apple pie.

What’s going on at the corner of Hwy 50 and Platteview Rd? A new strip mall is now is in the progress of being built. Grating began recently for this new construction.

I remember when my sons played soccer in that field. Now thanks to the wonderful organization, SSAP, soccer players now have the beautiful Springfield Soccer Complex. That’s progress!
