Look at what the First United Methodist Church Youth group is doing! Their fundraiser involves toilets and one could end up in your front yard. For $25.00 it will be removed or buy an insurance policy to keep it from one from appearing on your property. So be on the look out for one of these works of art appearing mysteriously in your neighborhood. (Actually folks can to sign up to participate and benefit the UMC youth group.)
I have to put a plug in for the Hometown Market here in Springfield. For dinner the other night, I purchased some nice plumb pork sirloins from there to cookout on the grill. After we ate my hubby commented that those sirloins got first prize! Best he’s ever had! So if your looking for something tasty to make for supper be sure to visit Springfield’s grocery store to pick up some first rate meat and other fixin’s.

The history of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Springfield runs almost parallel to that of the city. The corner stone of the first church edifice was placed in the foundation on July 6, 1882. Its first pastor was C. D. Day who served from April 1882 to September 1883. Services were held in the school house until September 10, 1882 when the new church was ready for occupancy. In 1927 this first building was turned a quarter turn and the present church built around it. The corner stone for this building was laid on June 6, 1927.
