What’s New in Springfield, NE
November 14, 2007
Autumn is at its best this year in Springfield. The weather has been warm and wonderful. It’s nearly the middle of November and many trees are still wearing their gorgeous fall foliage. The longer this nice weather stays around the better. Let’s delay the cold and wintry weather for as long as possible.
Deer Alert! Watch out for those deer bounding across the highways. It’s mating season for deer, which means they are on the move and more aggressive. Be on guard especially when driving at dawn and at dusk. I once received some advice about being on the lookout for deer when driving this time of the year. Use your peripheral vision and look for those shiny doe-like eyes. And it has been confirmed that it is better to hit the deer, than to swerve and hit an oncoming car or fixed object.
Sonshine Preschool took a Field Trip to the Bellevue Berry Farm recently. Twenty two children along with parents and teachers had a fun day experiencing pumpkin farming.

Springfield Elementary 6th grade Quiz Bowl Team competed at Louisville on November 7th. The team placed 2nd in the competition. Congratulations, students!!! You make us proud!!!

Flusher Update! Now being seen around town are some brightly and gaudy toilet bowls in front yards of unsuspecting residents. The Springfield First United Methodists youth group are stealthily delivering these works of art around town. Honk if you see one!
