Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and now it’s onto New Years.  Remember to celebrate safe and sensibly.

Today, December 26th is Boxing Day. This day was originally celebrated as a way to give money gifts to servants and trades people on the day after Christmas. The gifts were given in an earthen box which had to be broken open to obtain the money. Today, where celebrated, Boxing Day is a day of quiet recuperation from the Holiday season.

From Brenda Sherman, Springfield resident, who is making a difference in our world:

The Westroads Shooting has left us devastated. In light of this devastation, let us come together to make a positive difference.  On Saturday, December 29 from 9a - 9p our home will be open for an all day crop.  There are 10 available spaces and the cost is a free will donation.  Come for all day or part of the day and contribute based on what you feel led.  There will be product for sale and available to order.  All profit and free will crop fees from the day will be donated to the Victims Fund.  Snacks, meals and drinks will not be provided so feel free to bring your own.  Please pass this on to anyone that might be interested.  Also, if you can't crop, stop by to purchase some items as those sales will be included.  God Bless your Christmas Season and thanks for making a difference in your corner of the world!!!

I made this simple Green Bean recipe for our Christmas Day meal. It was delicious and so easy.

1 pound fresh green beans
3 green onions, chopped
2 T. olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Bring water to boil in a sauce pan. Add green beans and cook for 4 minutes. Drain. Heat olive oil in skillet and add green onion, sauté for 1minute. Add green beans. Saute for 4 minutes, stir frequently. Salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
