Welcome Back
Hey Springfield, one of the things I think we sometimes take for granted is how lucky we are to live here. We're close enough to the BIG OMAHA to enjoy everything the city has to offer, but far enough away to still have that small-town feel.
And if we're looking for trails, gyms, healthy food, shopping or entertainment, we have plenty of options just a short drive away.
But here's the thing... what if we don't want to leave Springfield?
We have more right here than we sometimes realize! We have a great library that has won awards and continues to be a wonderful gathering place for our community. We have great schools and people who care about our kids and their future. We have fun dining options right here in town when you want to grab a bite without heading to Omaha.
Need something special? Maybe you're getting married and suddenly realize you need a wedding dress? Yep—we've got an option for that too!
From books to education, food to shopping, community events and local businesses, Springfield has a lot going for it.
And then, when you're ready for a little more adventure, Omaha is right down the road. Trails. Gyms. Healthy food. Parks. Restaurants. Shopping. Camping. Kayaking. You name it. We're close to the BIG city, but we don't have to live like we're in the BIG city. Maybe that's one of the best things about Springfield. So let's remember to shop local, eat local, explore local and support the people who make our little town what it is. Sometimes we spend so much time looking for what's somewhere else that we forget to appreciate what's right here at home.
Springfield has a lot to offer. Let's make sure we notice it—and support it.

Springfield History
Celebrating the 1990-91 Cheerleading Team
The 1990-91 Cheerleading Team was instrumental in bringing enthusiasm to every varsity sports event. They attended a summer camp in Ames, Iowa, where they excelled, earning numerous blue and red ribbons.
In addition to their camp achievements, the team organized pep rallies, the homecoming bonfire, and the varsity football breakfast. They dedicated time to practice, create locker signs, and decorate the hallways, all in an effort to foster Trojan spirit among students and faculty.

Insurance Tip of the Week:
Here’s something every homeowner in Nebraska and Iowa should be paying attention to! We get hit with wind and hail, and that has changed the way many homeowners policies handle roof claims. A 2% wind and hail deductible is becoming very common in our area. That means if your home is insured for $300,000, a 2% deductible would be $6,000 out of your pocket before insurance pays toward a covered wind or hail loss.
With Farmers, you may have an option to buy down that wind and hail deductible for an additional premium, depending on your policy and eligibility. I actually think that’s something worth discussing because $6,000 can be a BIG chunk of money when a storm comes through.
But there’s another option I want homeowners to think about: instead of paying more to lower the deductible, you could consider putting money aside specifically for your future roof needs. Set an amount you can comfortably afford and build your own roof fund over time. Just remember, a savings/investment account is not insurance and market-based accounts can gain or lose value, so it shouldn't be viewed as a replacement for proper homeowners coverage.
The important thing is to know what your deductible actually is before the storm hits. Don't wait until the roof is damaged to find out what your out-of-pocket cost will be.If you’re not sure what your wind and hail deductible is, call your insurance agent and ask. It could be one of the most important numbers on your homeowners policy.

Did You Know?
Dolly Parton passed away 8/25/26 at the age of 80, but what an incredible life she leaves behind.
Born in 1946 as one of 12 children in rural Tennessee, Dolly grew up in poverty and went on to become one of the most successful songwriters, singers, actresses and businesswomen in the world. Her career lasted more than six decades, with songs like Jolene, 9 to 5 and I Will Always Love You becoming part of American culture.
But here's the part I really love: Dolly didn't just make music—she made a difference. In 1995, she started Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, inspired by her father, who couldn't read or write. The program provides free books to children from birth to age five, regardless of their family's income.
From a little girl growing up in a two-room cabin to a worldwide superstar, Dolly showed what can happen when you dream big, work hard and remember where you came from. So as we head into September and talk about fresh starts and getting 1% better, maybe Dolly is a pretty good reminder:
You don't have to start with much. You just have to start. And what you do with what you're given can become something much bigger than you ever imagined.
