Farmers Market

Plan to stroll through the booths, grab something fresh, and make a day of it. Bring the kids, bring a friend, meet up with neighbors, or just wander and enjoy the summer energy.

MoPac Trail is right there if you want to walk it off or Bike cruise before or after. And yes—there’s even a winery right across the way if you’re making it a “grown-up afternoon out” kind of day.

Got something you make or grow? This is your sign—set up a booth and be part of the fun. You never know who’s been looking for exactly what you’ve got.

Join us at the VFW (13600 Pflug Rd). Spread the word.

Springfield History

In April 1987, the Springfield Jaycees community organization successfully fulfilled three orders
for sand tires and nearly twelve tons of sand as part of a fundraising effort. Joe Olivo, the owner
of City Wide Sand and Gravel, generously donated the sand for this project. Additionally, Steve
Cockerill contributed by providing his truck for the delivery of the orders.

Insurance Tip of the Week- Know What Your Insurance Actually Covers

Nebraska just reported another small earthquake, which reminds us that even in low-risk states, standard homeowners insurance usually does NOT cover earthquake damage. Most people don’t need extra coverage—but if a major quake ever hits, repairs would come straight out of pocket. It’s a good idea to at least know your policy limits and ask: “Am I protected if the ground moves?”

Fit Tip of the Week: Keep It Simple. Stay Consistent.

Did you know one of the best natural fat burners is muscle?

Muscle burns more calories even when you are resting. You do not need fancy workouts or hours at the gym either. Simple strength training a few times a week can help boost metabolism, improve balance, strengthen bones, and make everyday life easier.

Easy places to start:

  • Wall push-ups while waiting for coffee
  • Sit-to-stands from a chair
  • Carrying groceries with good posture
  • Light dumbbell or resistance band exercises
  • Squats holding onto the kitchen counter

The goal is not perfection. The goal is consistency. A little strength today helps build independence for tomorrow.

Did You Know - National Day of Prayer USA

The National Day of Prayer was officially established in 1952 when Congress passed a resolution and it was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

The idea of a national day of prayer actually goes back further—leaders like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln called for national prayer during major national challenges—but the modern annual observance came later.

In 1988, President Ronald Reagan set the date as the first Thursday in May, which is still observed today.

It’s a day set aside for people across the country to pause, reflect, and pray for the nation, its leaders, and its future. We need it!
