IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD HISTORY
KETV Newscaster, John Mason, with Springfield Elementary School students
Students at Springfield Elementary were excited to be a feature story on the KETV evening news on October 31, 1986. Newscaster John Mason came to Springfield for the school's annual Halloween parade down Main Street. The Springfield Elementary School Halloween parade has been happening since approximately 1959.
SPRINGFIELD AREA MASTER GARDENERS NEWS
It’s only a month since we closed our Sarpy County Fairgrounds Garden and I am already missing the blooms and people already.
Have you done your cleanup? Remember there is a burn ban, so there is no piling up of your garden branches. Unless you compost, your piles will need to be disposed of the right way.
Now the next plants to deal with are houseplants and those brought in and oh, one more Poinsettia and the cactus (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and or Easter).
Christmas trees-
Are you a real or fake? If you are real, cut the base off so the base of the tree will begin water absorption. Make sure you properly water throughout the season and the tree is well supported for any activities surrounding it. Both kind of trees need the lighting done correctly so little ones and critters cannot get twisted in them.
