HEY SPRINGFIELD. SEPTEMBER 2026 IS ALMOST IN THE BOOKS — AND YOU CAN DEFINITELY TELL FALL IS HERE!
The mornings are cooler, the leaves are starting to change, and around Platteview, the fall sports season is in full swing.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHT, Football season is always a big deal around here, and the Platteview Trojans have been giving us plenty to cheer about. The Trojans opened the season with a 20–12 win over Hastings, followed that up with a huge 56–6 win over Omaha Buena Vista, then traveled to Skutt Catholic before coming home for a Youth Night matchup with Plattsmouth.
And then came HOMECOMING! There is just something about a Friday night under the lights — the band, the cheerleaders, the student section, the families in the stands and a whole community coming together to support our kids.
You don't have to have a kid playing to be part of it. SHOW UP. CHEER LOUD. and SUPPORT THE TROJANS.
VOLLEYBALL IS ON A ROLL! The Platteview volleyball team has been busy, and they have been putting together a strong run. The Trojans entered the final days of September with an 11-match winning streak and a 16–6 overall record.
That's a whole lot of volleyball! If you haven't made it into the gym yet, grab a seat and come watch these girls compete. Volleyball may not have Friday Night Lights, but the energy in that gym can get pretty loud!
Hay batter batter. Fall softball has also kept the Trojans busy. Platteview picked up an 18–8 win over Cass on September 22 and finished the day with plenty of action against North Bend Central.
Another season, another group of athletes putting in the work.
AND LET'S NOT FORGET THE REST! Platteview fall athletics aren't just football and volleyball. The school also offers cross country, girls golf, boys tennis, cheer, dance, strength and speed, softball and Unified Football.
Every one of these athletes is putting in hours that most of us never see — early mornings, practices after school, weekend tournaments, conditioning, traveling and doing it all while keeping up with school. That's what high school sports are really about.
It's not just the scoreboard. It's discipline. It's teamwork. It's learning how to win. It's learning how to lose. It's learning how to keep going.
And it's giving our kids something pretty special:
So as September comes to an end, let's keep showing up for our Platteview students.
Football field.
Volleyball court.
Cross country course.
Softball field.
Tennis court.
Golf course.
GO TROJANS! And Springfield... don't forget to enjoy these fall days while they last.
Because before we know it, the Friday night lights will turn into basketball gyms, wrestling mats and winter sports.
