Final details are in the works for Springfield ArtWorks first anniversary celebration. Hurry on in to sign up for the two fabulous felting classes. Kay Kaduce and Rona Horn from Eu Claire Wisconsin will be spending 3 days at SAW giving classes and doing make and take projects. The last week in October there will be a trunk show showcasing Kay's & Rona's work. Items will be available for purchase. Kay's and Rona's latest book, "The Big Book of Needle Felting" is a popular and colorful book and they would love to autograph your copy. Rona's jewelry book will soon be out as well. Their classes are a felted vessel, a nuno felted scarf with embellishments, and felted jewelry. See pictures of their work below.
Margie and Glenn Trembley will be having a special showing of their private collection of glass art during their anniversary celebration on Saturday, November 6 from noon to 4pm. Artists in their collection include Josh Simpson from Massachusetts, an internationally recognized contemporary glass artist, best known for his infinity project, Margaret Neher from Ithica,NY, nine time Niche award finalist and two time winner, best known for her glass botanicals, Newy Fagan from Florida, a renowned artist in the kiln formed glass movement, best known for her fused horses. Diana East from the UK, best known for her award winning glass beads and Kevin Smolark from Philadelphia an up and coming glass artist, as well as a few surprises. They will also have special pieces that they created for their own collection.

Auditions at Lofte for World Premiere Production

The Lofte Community Theatre announces that it will be holding auditions for its upcoming holiday production of “Christmas at Leon’s” on Sunday, September 26 and Monday, September 27 at 7pm. Director Kevin Colbert is looking for 8 men and 8 women ages 18-60. All roles except for one male character require singing. Audition will consist of cold readings from the script and a musical audition. Actors are asked to bring a prepared song, no more than one minute in length. Accompanist provided.
“Christmas at Leon’s” is an original script written by Lofte Artistic Director Kevin Colbert and longtime Lofte favorite, Mick Kovar. The Lofte production will be the production’s world premiere. The story revolves around Leon, the proprietor of Leon’s Diner & Inn, the three singing waitresses in his employ, and a bus filled with passengers stranded at Leon’s on Christmas Eve.
Production dates for “Christmas at Leon’s: are Dec 3-5, 10-12, and 16-19. The theater is located near Manley, Nebraska near the intersection of Hwy 50 and Hwy 1.

TEE OFF FOR A VET!
The second annual Legacy Veterans Garden Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, October 2nd and you are invited!
Bring your own foursome, or partner up with fellow golfers at the course. Either way you are sure to have a great afternoon while you raise money for the Veterans Memorial planned for the campus of the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue.
The Veterans Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Tregaron Golf Course, 13909 Glengarry Circle, in Bellevue, NE. Check-in begins at 12:30 am with a shot gun start at 2 pm. An Awards Dinner will follow at 7:30 pm at Tregaron.
Registration is $100 per golfer or $400 for a foursome. Registration includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, the chance to win great prizes and an invitation to a steak dinner at the Awards Celebration.
Holes can be sponsored for $50 each. Sponsors are also invited to donate merchandise as flag prizes.

FIDDLING BEE
Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the FOURTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 10, at 2:30 PM, in the auditorium of the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest. The prizes for the winners in the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place. Prizes will also be awarded for 1st place in the other contests. Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM the day of the FIDDLING BEE. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free.
