DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER

The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces the opening of its fall farce, "Don't Dress For Dinner," on Friday, October 15.  The fast-paced script by Robin Hawdon sees Bernard carefully preparing a romantic weekend in the country with his mistress.  His wife is off to visit her mother, a gourmet chef has been hired to cater the evening and Bernard's friend will provide the alibi.  What could possibly go wrong?  As is in every scripted farce, the audience is soon witness to a combination of misunderstandings, fibs and impossible situations.  Lofte Artistic Director Kevin Colbert produced this show during Mahoney State Park's winter season several years ago where it still holds the record for highest attendance.

Kevin Colbert both directs and plays the lead in the Lofte production.  The play also stars Shari Hoelker and Doug Rothgeb of Omaha, Renae Koehler of Firth, Kevin Holdorf of Manley and newcomer Toni Santee of Plattsmouth.  Production dates are October 15-16, 21-23 and 27-30.  Thursday through Saturday curtain times are 7:30pm.  Sunday shows are 2pm matinees.  General Admission tickets are $17 and can be purchased either online at wwww.Lofte.com or by calling the box office (402) 234-2553.

The Lofte is holding a special fundraising event in conjunction with this production.  From October 27-30, audience members will have the opportunity to come early and have a dinner theater experience right on stage!  A cordon bleu menu has been specifically designed to match the gourmet meal in "Don't Dress For Dinner."  The cost is $20 in addition to the show ticket and advance reservations are required.  Those who are interested should call the box office with questions.

AUDITION NOTICE

The Lofte Community Theatre will be holding auditions on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25 at 7pm for their upcoming holiday production, "A Christmas Survival Guide."  Director Kevin Colbert is looking for two men and three women.  Specifically, one of the men needs to be a good pianist and singer.  Age range for all roles is 25-55 years.

The play is a revue taking a humorous look at the stresses of the Christmas season.  Armed with a copy of "A Christmas Survival Guide," the characters charge into an urban holiday landscape searching for the true essence of Christmas.  In songs and vignettes, they learn to cope with the season in ways that are both hilarious and heartwarming.  The production will run Dec 3, 4, 9-11 and 15-18.

Those auditioning should bring a prepared song one minute in length.  Any questions in regards to the audition process or the theater may be directed to Kevin Colbert by calling the Lofte box office at (402) 234-2553 or emailing him at This email address is being protected from spambots.
