'Nunset Boulevard'
Opens at
Lofte CommunityTheatre
The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley opens the wacky musical-comedy 'Nunset Boulevard' on Saturday, October 12. 'Nunset' is the sixth installment of the popular series chronicling the antics little sisters of Hoboken. This time they have been invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. However, upon their arrival, they discover that it's actually the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama and Cabaret Lounge. When they find there is a screen test going on across the street, they think stardom is just a few steps away! This is a fun family-friendly evening filled with lighthearted comedy and fantastic vocals.
Directed by Kevin Colbert, the play stars the operatically trained Janet Sorensen of Elmwood as Reverend Mother. Her second in command, Sister Mary Hubert is played by Betty Colbert. Anna Stroebel of Papillion, Charity Baker of Elmwood and Samantha colbert and Alyssa DiPaolo both of Lincoln fill out the ranks.
The production opens October 12 and runs October 13, 18-20 and 24-27. Tickets are $17. Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte box office at 402.234.2553 or visiting the Lofte website at Lofte.com.

HAPPY PAWS AND PETS AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH
Seventh-Annual “Doggy Day”
Planned at Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm
On Saturday, October 5th, Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm is going to the dogs for an event to benefit Happy Paws Animal Advocacy and the Plattsmouth Animal Shelter.
Farm owners Terry and Teresa Lorensen are inviting visitors to bring their canine companions to the farm for a day of exercise and exciting farm sights and smells. Doggy admission is $5.00 and all doggy admission proceeds will be donated to the Plattsmouth Animal Shelter and Happy Paws, a pet advocacy group that supports the shelter. Donation jars will be in place so that even those who don’t bring a dog can still participate.
Volunteers from the organizations will be on-site throughout the day with literature and pets which can be adopted from the shelter.
“Many of the animals we have here at the farm, including our dogs and cats, have been adopted, and we want to help other animals who need new homes,” said Teresa Lorensen. “It’s a cause we care a lot about.”
Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm is located at 911-108th St., rural Avoca, NE. Their annual pumpkin patch festival runs through October 27th. Hours are: Fridays 1:00-6:00 p.m. and Saturdays/Sundays 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. For more information and a complete listing of events at the farm, visit their website, www.bloompumpkinpatch.com.
