LOCAL DERBY HAT DESIGNER

Omaha milliner and Springfield business owner, Margie Trembley recently participated in a fashion show at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Oaks, the day before the 140th Kentucky Derby. This annual fashion event brought out 200 participants from around the globe. Miss America was the emcee and introduced all of the contestants.

Three celebrity and Fashion authority judges narrowed the field to 10 and a final contestant received a Diamond Longines watch. The winner was from Miami, Florida and her hat was designed by an LA designer Arturo Rios.

"I recognized his work immediately" said Trembley. He is a great inspiration to me. He was a recent judge in another contest she participated in that had over 1000 entrants online. "He made some positive comments to me about my entry which was my opening hat for Omaha Fashion Week in March", she said.

He continues to encourage her with comments like "next year it will be your turn. I love the colors and the design of your hat"

"That means so much to me. He is one of the designers of Lady Gaga's hats. It makes me want to enter again next year. ".

Trembley and her husband Glenn own Springfield Artworks in Springfield Ne where she has her couture hat design studio, rightly called Margie Trembley Chapeaux. She has been designing hats for less than three years. She was recently selected to have her work shown on the runway at Omaha Fashion Week in August. This will be her second runway appearance in that event.
