FUNDRAISER FOR LOCAL BOY SCOUT
The Order of the Arrow is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2015. Joey Brinkman has been a member of the Order of the Arrow for the past two years. He enjoys Order of the Arrow meetings and Camps. He is currently being trained to work in the Trading Post for Summer Camps. He is working hard on Fundraising Money to get to this trip. Please consider buying a Younkers community coupon booklet from Joey. The price is $5.00. There are plenty of coupons to earn your money back and save $5.00 on selected items.
Little history on Order of the Arrow
In 1915, Camp Directors searched for a way to recognize select campers for their cheerful spirits of service at Scout Camp in the Delaware River. Goodman and Edson founded the Order of the Arrow when they held the first Ordeal Ceremony on July 16th of that year. By 1921, as the popularity of the organization spread to other camps, local lodges attended the first national gathering called a Grand Lodge Meeting.
The Order of the Arrow was one of many camp honor societies that existed at local Scout camps across the country. As the years went on and more camps adopted the Order of the Arrow’s program, it gained prominence and became part of the national Boy Scout program in 1934. By 1948, the OA, recognized as the BSA's national brotherhood of honor campers, became an official part of the Boy Scouts of America. Toward the end of the twentieth century, the OA expanded its focus to include conservation, high adventure, and servant-leadership.
Famous leaders in Order of the Arrow include President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
In addition, Joey's Grandfather was also a scout leader at Boys Town and was a member of Order of the Arrow.
You can call Joey at 402-298-2448 to place your order.

“King O’ The Moon” Opens at Lofte
The Lofte Community Theatre will open the family comedy-drama, “King O’ The Moon” on Saturday, August 30. Written by Tom Dudzick, “King” is Part II in a trilogy loosely based upon his family life in Buffalo, NY. Part I, “Over the Tavern,” was produced by the Lofte in 2009. “King O’ The Moon,” follows the Pazinski family’s journey into the rebellious 1960s, just as Apollo 11 is about to land on the moon. The family gathers together to remember their father, Chet and catch-up with each other in the midst of the Civil Rights movement and the Viet Nam War.
Directed by Kevin Colbert, the production has one actress reprising her role. Cheryl Grimshaw again plays the strong Pazinski family matriarch, Ellen. Joining her onstage as the rest of the Pazinski children are Joshua Smith of Plattsmouth, Eddie McGonigal of Omaha, Benjiman Pettiford and Kaitlan Scates-Pettiford both of Bellevue. Meredith McAdams and Ed Cutler round-out the cast.
Production dates for the show are August 30, 31, September 5-7 and 12-14. Tickets are $19. Curtain time on Fridays and Saturdays is 7:30pm. Sunday matinees are at 2pm. Reservations can be made by calling the Lofte box office at (402) 234-2553.
