WHAT’S NEW IN SPRINGFIELD, NE

Everyone is invited to attend the annual Summer Musical Performance of Mrs. Connery's talented young actors and actresses. “Miss Nelson Has a Field Day” will be presented on Friday, June 27 at 7pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The cost is free. Stay after the performance for refreshments.   

 

Sign up now for Vacation Bible School at Springfield First United Methodist Church. “Surfin' Through the Scriptures” will be held July 21-July 24, 6:00-8:30pm. Child must be 4 years of age. Cost is $5.00 per child.

 

Now is your chance to join the Girl Scout interest group this summer for girls entering grades 1 – 3.You won’t want to miss out on…earning patches, arts & crafts and songs & games.  Join this four week interest group to learn about Girl Scouts while participating in fun activities on the following Wednesdays:  June 25, July 9, July 16, and July 23 at the Springfield Library from 1 – 2:30 p.m.  Call or e-mail your rsvp to Joanne Savicky, This email address is being protected from spambots. Annika came for a visit & so did her Dad and Mom all the way from Greeley, CO! Here she is... our first little precious granddaughter.

 WHAT’S HAPPENING IN SPRINGFIELD

June 27, 7pm – “Mrs. Nelson has a Field Day” grand performance at St. Joseph’s Church. Refreshments served after the play.  The cost is free.

June 29, 2:00pm – SSAP annual meeting at the Soccer Complex. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will take place at the Community Building.

June 26, 10:30am – 12pm at Springfield Library Summer Reading Tent & Crafts with Miss Nancy. This week’s theme: Ladybugs!

 June 30, 1pm – The Henry Doorly Zoo brings their “Rain Forest” program to Springfield Memorial Library for the Summer Reading Program.  K-6th grades are invited to attend.  

July 1st at 12pm – Senior Meal at First United Methodist Church. A free will donation will be accepted.

SPRINGFIELD HISTORICAL TIDBITFrank [Zimmerman] started a feed yard at Springfield in 1915 which developed into the largest feeding operation in the area.  He was partners in the Weeth and Zimmerman Feed Co., then the Zimmerman and Gottsch.   

 

~It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel for thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.
