Folk Musician, Chris Sayre will be appearing at Springfield Memorial Library on July 21 at 1:00pm. A native of Lincoln, Chris has dedicated thirty years to performing and promoting traditional and contemporary folk music. All are invited to attend this free performance and help us celebrate the end of a successful Summer Reading Program season. A grant from the Nebraska Humanities Council is making this program possible.
More news on the new Daycare/Preschool center, A Step Ahead, located at the new strip mall on Hwy 50 & Platteview Rd.: A Step Ahead Child Care Center provides the warmth and comfort of home with the opportunity to grow developmentally, academically, and socially. We believe in using activities that are both developmentally and age appropriate along with hands on learning and proper modeling. ALL children deserve to start a step ahead! We will welcome special needs kids.
Activities include: Monthly theme topics, Daily calendar activities, Center activities, Music, Art, Math, Science, Computer lab, Outdoor activities, Movement, Individual/Group instruction times. Our hours for now will be 6am to 6pm. Infants, 0-18 months, will be $175.00 per week; toddlers, 18-36 months, will be $165.00 per week and ages 3-4 will be $155.00 per week. A 10% sibling discount on eldest child. A one time non-refundable registration fee of $50.00 will be charged.
We will have secured entry, large and safe play area, state approved meal plan, progress reports and differentiated activities for all age groups and abilities.

Teams participating in the junior tournament are Ashland, Bennet, Gretna, Heibel Dermatology (Lincoln Lutheran), Plattsmouth, Pleasant Dale, Pleasant Dale/Milford, Pleasant Dale/Malcolm, Waverly and the host, Springfield. Springfield’s opening game will be 8:00 P.M. on Thursday. The games will continue through the championship game scheduled for 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday. The champions will advance to the state tournament in Nebraska City.

There’s gonna be a Beach Party! Surfin’ through the Scriptures will be the theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church, July 21-July24 from 6:30-8:00pm. Register now for all the fun. The cost is $5.00 for children ages 4 & up.
July 14 - Summer Reading Programs at Springfield Memorial Library with Preschool Storytime at 9:30am and the elementary age program at 1pm. This week’s program: UNL professor, Dennis Ferraro presents Nebraska Snakes.
July 21, 1pm – Folk musician Chris Sayre will be performing at Springfield Memorial Library. This program is free. The Nebraska Humanities Council has provided a grant for this performance. Refreshments will be served.
July 24 10:30am-12pm - Watermelon Feed & Papermaking Activity at Springfield Memorial Library. Library Assistant & Artist, Nancy Davis, will teach us how to make paper. Children and adults are invited for this special event.

Old Fashion Gospel Sing and Dinner
On Saturday, July 12, starting at 3:00 in the afternoon, The First Christian Church, 325 H St, Weeping Water, Nebraska, is inviting the public of all ages to join them in celebrating the heritage of gospel Music with Brad White, member of the Blackwood Brothers, who will take us through 100 years of this unique music with piano, saxophone, and singing. Dinner on the grounds in air conditioning will follow at 5PM. Potluck style with tableware & drinks be provided will be enjoyed with wonderful fellowship and fun giveaways. Spoken 4 Quartet will be performing at 7PM from Branson MO. Love Offering will be taken for Brad White & Spoken 4 Quartet.
