New Business in Springfield - Articles of Incorporation:
My brother in Colorado just had snow. We just had a frost. Now it is raining. Weather is weird. That is why you have to always be prepared with your plants. You may want to be patient with some of your plants if they got "nipped”. They may grow out of the damage. Just remove the damage leaves after it gets some growth on it. It's not too late to plant some replacements if you'd like. Some places are running out or are not getting orders due to back orders so be prepared.
The next plant we will talk about is Big Duck Gold marigold and marigolds in general. We loved Big Duck (AAS) due to its sheer size (up to 15" tall). It is a very large flower with a bright yellow head. Sadly, though, well loved by Japanese beetles. Marigolds in general are great flowers for spring and companion plants for tomatoes. They help with keeping away some insects and can be planted in direct sunlight. Be aware not to over water and realize they are only annuals but can sometimes be over wintered.
Lots of varieties to choose from which also makes them ideal for borders or containers.
This year you can find a marigold called Super Hero Spry also All American Selection surrounding Henry the Hydrangea so come take a look.
Ok, looking forward to next time. Grow Green! (Look for us at the Springfield Days parade)
