Springfield Wednesday Newsletter - March 11th
Welcome Back!
Hey Springfield, are we in fake spring? I’m not complaining about the weather today at all. It might be the perfect time to get the bikes out and ride the MoPac Trail. We are so lucky to be so close to a trail that could technically take you all the way toward California or New York depending on which direction you head!
Speaking of heading out of town, next week is Spring Break for students in Springfield Platteview Community Schools. We hope families enjoy the break and some well-deserved time together.
Before everyone takes off, don’t miss a fun local event. Westmont Elementary’s Talent Show will be held Friday, March 13th at 2:00 p.m. in the gymnasium. Families and friends are invited to attend and see our talented students perform. It’s always a great show and a fun way to celebrate our students!
Springfield stores would also like to send a big thank you to everyone who came out recently to support local businesses. It truly means a lot to our small business community.
2026 Farmers Market Countdown Mark your calendars:
June 28
July 26
August 23
September 27
Let’s make this our biggest year yet. The Farmers Market is all about community — supporting local vendors, seeing familiar faces, and spending a great day together.
Spread the word! Maybe someone you know would like to be a vendor. Or just come out, shop local, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Reserve a spot!
Pickleball is now happening at the Community Building - and it’s a game-changer for midweek fun. Tue and Thursday, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
Spots are limited, so you’ll need to reserve a one-hour time slot in advance. Participants must be 19 years or older, and registration requires a Facility Use Agreement, liability waiver, and ID copy. Grab a friend, get active, and come enjoy some fun at the Community Building!

ReMain - Raw Honey.
Raw, unfiltered honey isn’t just sweet — it actually has real benefits. It can help soothe a sore throat, calm a cough, and even give a steadier boost of energy than regular sugar. Many people also use a small daily spoonful of local raw honey during allergy season.
Just make sure it’s truly raw and unfiltered (usually cloudy and may crystallize). And remember — never give honey to infants under 1 year old.

Fit Tip: Fit Tip: Strength Comes From Showing Up
Most people think fitness is about huge workouts or instant results. The truth is much simpler: consistency beats intensity.
A 10-minute walk, a few pull-ups, or a short stretch each day may not feel like much—but those small actions add up to real strength over time.
Remember: the body gets stronger when we keep showing up. Start where you are, move a little every day, and let progress build one step at a time.

Did you know?
St. Patrick's Day has been celebrated in the United States since the 1700s, and today it’s one of the most festive days of the year. While it began as a religious holiday honoring Saint Patrick, it has grown into a celebration of Irish culture—complete with green outfits, good food, and community fun.
So if you’re planning to wear your green this year, be sure to stop by Main Street Decor. They have lots of cute St. Patty’s shirts and festive finds to help you celebrate in style.
Supporting local businesses keeps our small-town spirit strong—just like a little luck of the Irish right here in Springfield!
