A goat like this could be visiting you!

The Springfield First United Methodist Church Youth Group has come up with another innovative idea for funding next summer’s Mission Trip. Beginning on September 7, the Youth Group’s first fun fundraiser will be the “GET YOUR GOAT” event. This will be similar to the Flushed campaign but instead of a toilet…they will use a Live Goat. Due to the possible issues revolving around leaving a goat tied up on your porch or yard, they will probably just bring it to church and after services your picture will be with the goat and posted on the “Wall of Shame” in the Narthex. Same rules apply – a “donation” gets you a free pass or the ability to put a hit on someone else. Otherwise you are fair game to be snagged for photo op. It will cost you $20 to get the picture back off the wall. A sign-up sheet will be posted in the narthex for you to buy the insurance or opt out all together.

~ Thanks, Ron Smith, for this info!

I had a little issue with my computer last week so I missed this last week:

Our neighbors to the south in Louisville were featured in the World Herald for their desire to promote wireless internet service in their downtown business area. John Harrington had a great idea to purchase signs to post out on Highway 50 advertising this service to all passing by. Well, the Nebraska Department of Roads did not think it was a “great Idea”.  If you missed this in the Omaha World Herald read the story here:

Our plan to visit Soaring Wings Vineyard this summer finally happened last Friday. It turned out to be a relaxing evening with fantastic weather, groovy music, and a beautiful sunset. I’m sorry I missed a picture of the sunset—Nebraska sunsets are magnificent!

Springfield Historical Tidbit
August 29, 1883- John Allud is now engaged in moving the Christian Church building from Sarpy Centre to Springfield. This is the last building to be moved from the famous town that now exists only in history and the event should be celebrated with impressive and solemn ceremony.
