What’s New in Springfield, NE
December 27, 2006

Seasons Greetings!

The Holiday spirit is alive in Springfield, NE. Traveling around town we see Holiday lights everywhere. What is more traditional in Springfield, though, than the big Christmas tree located right in the middle of Main Street. It is a beautiful sight to behold! How did the tree get there? Shhh!!! It’s a secret and no one knows where it came from. So, drive carefully around the tree and enjoy this time-honored bit of Christmas joy.

Friends of the Springfield Memorial Library “Holiday Lighting” Contest winners announced:

Business Division:
1st place- Highway 50 Market
2nd place - Springfield United Methodist Church

Residential Division:
1st place - David & Jane Jensen
2nd place- Bill & Kerri Schlange
3rd place - Lee & Laurie Fowler

Congratulations, winners!

South Sarpy School District #46 dismissed December 21st for the winter break and will resume January 4, 2007. Have a safe and restful holiday!

Mo-Pac Trail
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays and venture onto the Mo-Pac trail, located to the south of town and, now, the newly constructed north trail. With the unseasonably warm temperatures you can enjoy a refreshing walk outside. There may be a chance to spot a few winter birds, deer, busy squirrels, or bunny rabbits. So break out the winter gear and pack up the family to spirit away those cold weather doldrums.
