IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD HISTORY
Nina Meisinger was recognized for her forty year career with the Springfield Monitor but for Springfield’s children she was the famous “cookie lady”. For more than fifty years, Nina baked one hundred cookies every Monday to share with the kids who came to her door. Her belief was to set a good example for children by teaching them caring, sharing, and to be courteous. She enjoyed every minute spent visiting with Springfield’s children who most often stopped after school. Even though Nina baked hundreds of cookies she rarely ate any. She didn’t care much for sweets.
