Westmont Elementary recently held the Big Red Food Drive contest. Students collected 663 food items. Winners of the contest were Mrs. Hasty’s class who donated 123 items. Coming in second was Mrs. Liebentritt’s class with 116. Great job, Westmont Elementary!!! You have made a difference in our community.
The Gretna Optimist will be honoring all WWII veterans, including over 20 that live in Gretna on Thursday at 7 AM at the weekly Optimist meeting. Five WWII veterans that have taken the Honor Flight to visit the Washington DC WWII Memorial will be presenting a program on their trip. The meeting and presentation will be Thursday, November 13 at 7 AM at D & K Cafe at 104 W. Glenmore, Gretna. For more information contact Russ Zeeb @ 681-0929
The Nielsen Retirement Auction will be held in the 4-H building at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds on Sunday, November 23 beginning at 12:00pm. This sale will feature many household goods and antique items. Best wishes to Elden and Mary Ellen Nielsen on your retirement!
This year’s Springfielder At Heart community dinner is on December 13 from 5-8pm. The dinner benefits the three churches in town. Help is needed! Be sure to sign up at your church to help with items and/ or to work. Door prizes and financial contributions are needed, also. For more information, contact Amy Smith or Bob Green. It’s very depressing! You know what I mean…this weather! Are you cold, wet and miserable, too? One week the highs are in the record 80’s and then next we’re plunging down to the 30’s and below. But there’s a bright spot, we missed the SNOW!!!
November 13, 7pm – Westmont Elementary 1st & 2nd grade Musical at PHS Auditorium.
November 14, 6-8pm – Used Book Sale Preview Night at Springfield Memorial Library. Your $5 admission fee benefits the library. Refreshments will be served.
November 15, 9:00am – 12:00pm – Used Book Sale at Springfield Memorial Library. Stock up on gently used books at bargain prices. All proceeds help the library purchase new books.
November 15 – Barnes & Noble Book Fair. 25% of all purchases will benefit Platteview High. Be sure to mention that you are a Platteview patron.
November 20 – Thanksgiving Day Crafts at Springfield Memorial Library. Stop by anytime from
3:30 – 5:30 to make crafts to celebrate this special holiday. Make a snack, too.
November 23, 12pm - Nielsen Retirement Auction at Sarpy Co. Fairgrounds 4-H building.
This is the last week for “Acoustic Sunday” at Springfield’s premiere winery, Soaring Wings Vineyard. Performing Sunday will be Mark Irvin from 2:00 – 5:00pm. Admission is free.
