Veteran’s Day will be celebrated Tuesday, November 11th.  To honor veterans in our community, a special program is planned annually at Platteview Sr. High. This year’s program will take place on Monday, November 10 at 9:30pm in the main gym.  Nebraska State Treasurer and decorated veteran, Shane Osborn will be the special guest speaker. The public is invited. Please plan to attend and join in honoring those who have served and are currently serving our country in the armed forces.
The annual First United Methodist Church Craft Sale and Luncheon is this coming Saturday, November 8 beginning at 9am and lasting until 2pm. Be the first one there for those wonderful Cinnamon Rolls!  Sponsored by the Round Tuits, this event offers a large selection of unique handcrafted items and homemade goodies. Lunch is served from 11am-1pm.
There’s only a few days left now to sign up for SSAP Basketball.  1st – 6th grade boys and girls may register until November 8 online at www.ssap.org   Check under the “Basketball” tab for registration information.
A special “Annual Used Book Sale Preview Night” will be held on Friday evening, November 14 from 6-8pm at Springfield Memorial Library.  A $5.00 admission charge will allow buyers to browse the Used Book Sale the evening before the sale opens to the public on Saturday, November 15, 9am-1pm. Refreshments will be served at the Preview Night. All sales and the admission fee benefit the Library.
Former Springfield resident Mark Rea will be in concert Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Nehawka United Methodist Church at 9:00 AM and at the Weeping Water United Methodist Church at 10:50 AM with a program of Southern Gospel music. All are invited to both concerts!

Platteview High Varsity Volleyball team will be at Districts on November 6th.
 Games begin at 6:30pm at Westside High in Omaha. Go Trojans!

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN SPRINGFIELD –The Calendar
November 8, 9am – 2pm – First United Methodist Church annual Craft Fair & Luncheon. Lunch will be served from 11am – 1pm.
November 8, 5:30pm – SSAP Soccer Banquet at the Sarpy County Fairgrounds 4-H building.
November 10, 9:30am – Veteran’s Day program at Platteview High School’s main gym.
November 11 – Veteran’s Day. All government offices will be closed.
November 13, 7pm – Westmont Elementary 1st & 2nd grade Musical at PHS Auditorium.
November 14, 6-8pm – Used Book Sale Preview Night at Springfield Memorial Library. Your $5 admission fee benefits the library. Refreshments will be served.
November 15, 9:00am – 12:00pm – Used Book Sale at Springfield Memorial Library. Stock up on gently used books at bargain prices.  All proceeds help the library purchase new books.
November 15 – Barnes & Noble Book Fair. 25% of all purchases will benefit Platteview High. Be sure to mention that you are a Platteview patron.
