Former Platteview High School teachers and coaches, Doug Calvert and Brent Siegrist, opened CAL-SIG Enterprises at 137 Main Street on September 1, 1980. The business sold custom-made and designed T-shirts, caps, sweatshirts, and jerseys using a silk-screen process. Their popular Platteview Trojan shirts sold for $4.50 each. Approximately two months after establishing their company, Calvert and Siegrist moved CAL-SIG Enterprises to 121 Main Street, the former American Legion, for the additional space.
