We honor local residents who served in World War I in observance of Veteran's Day. Residents in the Springfield area, including Lloyd Wright, Clarence Nicholson, Earl Haney, and Bernard Besack, were all at the same training camp. Alois Elwell completed his training as an aircraft pilot and conducted combat flights. We are fortunate to live in freedom because of the those who helped to preserve it.
