Unveiling the reel surprise: Springfield's hidden gem at 121 Main St! Dive into the captivating story as Keith Hentzen unfolds the cinematic history of this remarkable Movie Theatre!!
"The original buildings were constructed of wood, and the south side of Main st burned down in 1903. The brick buildings were built on existing foundations soon after. I believe the building was built as a theatre and silent movies were viewed along with a local lady accompanying with piano. Mr Callaway ran the projector and slept in the building. The Springfield VFW purchased it in the early 1950's. For a short while it was an auto parts store owned by Steve Stark, Corky Spencer bought it around 1982 to use for refinishing and selling antique furniture, after his death it sat unused for 10 years until Keith Hentzen purchased it in October 2022. After extensive restorations a new restaurant is envisioned and maybe a weekend of movies" ?
Check out these cent tickets – just imagine the silent classics like 'The Artist,' 'City Lights,' and 'Metropolis' that might have graced that historic screen! If you want more detail go see Keith at the Soda Fountain or Corky's workshop.
?️ Ever wondered what whimsical wonders lie behind the doors of Corky's workshop? My eyes saw lots of treasures, and now it's your turn to discover! ?️
