A new book mobile, the Info-Serv Van from the Eastern Library Regional System, traveled to Springfield
for the first time in August of 1985. The van’s purpose was intended to lend books to the library to help
supplement their collection. The Info-Serv Van served twenty-five libraries in the counties of Burt,
Cumings, Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders, and Washington. Librarian Alice Weighner and library board
trustee Beth Smith chose popular books that patrons could check out each time the Info-Serv Van visited
Springfield.
