It Happen in Springfield
From the year 1884 to 1973, Springfield was classified as a village with the first board chosen by the Sarpy County commissioners. The first appointed village board members were: John G. Behm, D. O. Brawner, A. V. Rogers, E. E. Baldwin, and E. J. Smith. Subsequently, village board members were elected
through town hall meetings. Nominees were chosen by nominations or volunteering. In 1973 Springfield achieved the population of eight hundred after a census was conducted by the school district. Springfield trustees voted to change the form of local government clearing the way for an elected mayor
and city council members. Springfield’s first election took place on May 14, 1974. Allen Kreifels ran unopposed for mayor. Glenn Adair, Ivan Novak, Dennis Gosch, Bill Sullivan and Neal Eickhoff were in the lineup for city council.

Fit Tip of the Week:
Get out and Play!
No gym? No problem! Play fosters social interaction, creating opportunities to connect with others in enjoyable and meaningful ways. Whether it's a game of pickleball, frisbee, soccer, or volleyball, or even something as simple as tag with the kids, a scavenger hunt, or a backyard obstacle course, movement through play builds bonds and strengthens relationships. These interactions help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, promoting a sense of belonging and community while enhancing overall emotional well-being and social confidence.

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.
Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
