Welcome Back
Hey Springfield, Have you noticed all the gorgeous trees blooming around town? Now’s the time to get out and enjoy them before the spring breeze sweeps those petals away. Springfield is bursting with color from beautiful trees like:
- Flowering Crabapples
- Eastern Redbuds
- Magnolias
- Serviceberries
- Flowering Dogwoods
- Lilacs (technically shrubs, but they’re wbe putting on a show too!)
It’s the perfect season for a walk, bike ride, or just a slow drive through town to take it all in.
Lucky Duck Race Update:
Tickets will be on sale soon! This fun community tradition supports a great cause and brings families, friends, and neighbors together. I’ll send out details as soon as I have the tickets in hand.
Stay tuned!

Picking up and Dropping off.
For several reasons, mostly to ensure that all student and staff only enter the school in 1 location, we have changed our policy on parking. Students are now allowed access to the west lot if they choose to park there. We have piloted this change for the last week and it has gone well. Things get a little more congested at dismissal but we have been clearing the west lot in no more than 9 minutes the last week. To help maintain the crucial safety of the bus/drop-off lane, I wanted to share 2 graphics to help guide drivers through.
One suggestion for adults who pick up their kids after school, meet them in the north lot. That would cut down a little of the congestion right at dismissal and keep you entirely away from the bus lane.

It Happen in Springfield
In 1982, the annual Easter Egg Hunt was held on April 10 th at Springfield Elementary. The Woman's Club, Springfield Drug, the Booster Club, and the Jaycees all sponsored the event. Shane Smith, ages 10–12, Andrew Scholting, ages 4-6, and Angela Miller, ages 0–3, were the grand prize winners in each age category. In the 7–9 years, the winner was not named. Debbie
Scholting, an employee at Springfield Drug and a friend of the Easter Bunny, attended the Easter Egg Hunt. Dressed as a bunny, Debbie also spread joy and treats at businesses along Main Street.
