SPRINGFIELD STATE BANK ANNUAL CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE
On December 15, 1995, Springfield State Bank celebrated its annual Christmas Open House for the community, marking the event's twentieth year. This festive occasion took place after the bank relocated from 2nd & Main Street to its newly constructed building at 600 Main Street. Event Highlights - Refreshments and Entertainment: The open house featured refreshments and performances by choirs from Springfield and Westmont elementary schools, along with the Platteview High School swing choir. Cash Drawings: An exciting addition was the four cash drawings, offering two prizes of $50 and two of $100, provided the winners were present. Visit from Santa Claus: For the 1995 celebration, the bank revived the beloved visit from Santa Claus, which had been absent for several years. Typically, the event attracted between 100 and 200 visitors throughout the day.

“Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way” Did you know this classic tune was originally written for Thanksgiving in 1857 by James Lord Pierpont and called “One Horse Open Sleigh” It was created for a church program in Savannah Georgia and only later became a Christmas favorite likely because of its snowy imagery and cheerful sleigh bells In fact it was even one of the first songs ever broadcast from space
