CELEBRATE 4-H @ THE SARPY COUNTY FAIR
The Sarpy County Fair begins today and continues through Sunday, August 2nd! It’s time for the Rodeo, 4-H shows, Tractor pulls, Carnival Rides, Demolition Derby, Animal Scramble and more. Be sure to visit the Food Stands for some fantastic eatin’. Who’s hungry for secret recipe sausages and homemade pie? Yum, yum, yum! Bring your lawn chair to Main Street for the Grand Parade on Saturday, August 1st. It starts at 10:00am. Come to Springfield to experience a bit of the country life! The Senior Meal will not be served in August at the First United Methodist Church. Be sure to visit the Church Fair Stand during the Sarpy County Fair.

Friday Night Music Series features the Mark Irvin Band. Doors open at 6pm and the show will start at 7pm with a $5 cover charge.

Springfield Memorial Library’s Summer Reading Program ended with a “messy “ art event outdoors on Thursday, July 23rd. Kids and parents had a grand time painting, drawing with sidewalk chalk, making bubble art, creating sand art pictures and eating freeze pops.
The Grand Prize Drawing was held Thursday evening. Winners were:

AVOCA, NE
The Old Avoca (Nebraska) Schoolhouse will be hosting a Beginning Recorder Workshop on Saturday, September 12, form 1 PM - 3 PM, for folks who want to learn to play the soprano recorder. Deborah Greenblatt, Master Artist with the Nebraska Arts Council, and member of the American Recorder Society, will lead the workshop. Pre-registration is required, and enrollment is limited.
