Greenblatt &
Seay proudly announce the THIRTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE.
This historical, hysterical event will take place on
Sunday, October 11, at 2:30 PM, in the auditorium of the Old Avoca, Nebraska
Schoolhouse. In the Open Division,
fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of
competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing
Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest
(fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus
Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers
an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other
contest. The prizes for the winners in
the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd
place. Prizes will also be awarded for
1st place in the other contests. Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM
the day of the FIDDLING BEE.
Admission is $5.00
for adults and $1.00 for children.
Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. For more information, call 402-275-3221, log

Debby Greenblatt,
championship fiddler and fiddle book author, will be giving a “Fiddle
Master Class” on Saturday, October
24, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This informative, entertaining event is
sponsored by the Big Muddy Fiddle Club. Participants may either play a
tune they are working on for the group and get some coaching from Debby or ask
a question about style, technique, or fiddle music in general. Master
classes give every one a chance to get some help and support in their fiddling,
while the whole group benefits from the teaching. Any skill level may
participate. Not brave enough to perform in front of the group? Listeners
may also register to sit in on the session and pick up some tips. The
workshop will be held at the home of Jim Harvey, 518 S 88th St, Omaha,
Nebraska. Seating is limited, register early! Jamming will follow
from 4:00—6:00 p.m. free of charge! Coffee and snacks will be provided.
