SPRINGFIELD PLATTEVIEW TOURNEY CHAMPIONS
The 12 and under girls from Springfield won the B division Todd Valley tournament that was held in Blair on June 8 – June 10. Springfield went a perfect 4-0 by beating Bennington, Plattsmouth, and Papillion. And then Springfield met Bennington again in the Championship game. The final game went a complete 7 innings with Springfield scoring 2 runs in the top of the 7th to take a 5-3 lead and held off Bennington in the bottom of the inning to secure the 5-3 win and the title. The quality of all aspects of the game was evident in the championship – Pitching, defense with both teams competing on a high level. “There were too many players involved in the championship run to name an overall MVP”, said coach Kevin Carlson of Springfield. “This was truly a team effort.”

First United Methodist Youth Group Leaves for Mission Trip
Members of the first United Methodist Church Youth Group left for this year’s Youth Mission Trip at 7:00am Saturday July 7th. They headed up to Cass Lake, MN for a week of service.
Youth Group Director, Ron Smith is asking for the Springfield community’s support.
From Ron:
I would like to ask you all for the gift of prayer this week.
Please pray for safe travel for all of us on our way there and back.
Please pray for strength to love each other and the people we encounter this week. Openly share the love of Christ as the Spirit leads.
Please pray for the community of the Leach Lake Reservation we are serving this week as well as our own community we are coming back to.
Please pray for the strength to continue to love and serve God and others with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
There is no way a simple thank you would ever be sufficient for all the church and community has done for us. Thank You for sending us!!
Here is a list of those attending our Mission Trip this year.
I would appreciate it if you would take the time to pray for each person individually -- that each person will be able to more fully understand God’s purpose and plan for their life.
