SPRINGFIELD YOUTH

MISSION TRIP

Springfield First United Methodist Church Youth are heading out to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota for this year’s Mission Trip. They have chosen a new name for their group: I.M.P.A.C.T. – Inspired Ministry Preparing Authentic Christian Teens - This comes from Romans 12: 1-2 about not conforming to the world… Rather than letting the world change you – you make an impact and change it.

From the Youth Group Leader:

We have our big Mission Trip coming up in July. July 6-12th. This is the largest group we have ever taken with 28 of us making the trek. We are going to South Dakota’s Pine Ridge Reservation. It is surrounded by the panoramic beauty of the Badlands. Despite the natural beauty of this community, residents of the reservation are struggling with poverty, unemployment, addiction, health problems and more. Our group will minister to the residents on the reservation through children’s programs and by painting and weatherizing homes.

This trip would not be possible without the love and support of the Springfield Community – So Thank You!!

Pack 389 Attends Scout Night

with the Omaha Storm Chasers

On Friday, June 21, Cub Scouts from Pack 389 attended Scout Night with the Omaha Storm Chasers. The boys marched in a pre-game on field parade before watching the Storm Chasers beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 7-6. A Friday Night Fireworks show followed the game. The real treat for the Scouts was the on field campout after the fireworks. They boys and their fathers set up tents in the outfield at Werner Park. They were able to play catch on the field and even got to watch a movie on the scoreboard’s video screen. Not even a little rain could dampen the fun the Scouts had on this night.
