LOCAL DANCERS ATTEND THE ALL STAR DANCERS NATIONAL CONVENTION
Maya Madden (Platteview High School), Brenna Milius and McKenna Jones (Louisville High School) recently attended the ALL STAR DANCERS National Convention in New York City. They were selected to participate in the convention when they performed a jazz large group routine at the Rainbow Dance Competition in Omaha, NE. Brenna, McKenna and Maya have been students at the 5678 Dance Studio in Springfield for 10 years. The five day convention included a dance workshop and "mock audition" taught by the World Famous Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. They also attended classes at New York's premier dance studio, The Broadway Dance Center and Workshops with Broadway Show Performers taught by a member of the Wicked dance cast from Broadway.
Brenna is a freshman at Louisville High School and is the daughter of David and Tracy Milius.
McKenna is a freshman at Louisville High School and is the daughter of Logan and Cheryl Jones.
Maya is a sophomore at Platteview High School and is the granddaughter of Kathy Diesing.
Ms Crystal Arch, owner of 5678 Dance Studio in Springfield attended the convention with her students.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL TOURNAMENT IN SPRINGFIELD
Springfield American Legion Post 143 will host the Area B- 2 Seniors baseball tournament starting on Friday, 24 July. In addition to the Springfield team there will be teams from Waverly, Plattsmouth, Platte Valley (players from Ashland and Yutan), Concordia, Swain Construction (players from Omaha Roncalli). and Schwisow Construction (players from Lincoln Lutheran). Springfield's first game is at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Games will be played at 2:30, 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Other first round games are Schwisow Construction and Swain Construction at 2:30, followed by Concordia and Platte Valley at 5:30. Games will be played Monday, 27 July at 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. and the championship game is Tuesday, 28 July at 5:30 p.m.
Admission is $5.00 for adults, Seniors and Veterans is $3.00, Students age 8-18, $3.00.

Sarpy County Representative for Sarpy/Cass Board of Health
The Sarpy/Cass Department of Health and Wellness is currently seeking candidates for an opening to serve as the Sarpy County representative on the Sarpy/Cass Board of Health. Functions of the Health Board include: 1) providing policy guidance on the development of
appropriate public health programs; 2) working to educate the citizens of both counties regarding public health issues; 3) providing Board oversight on the Department’s budget and the Health Director’s performance; 4) and ensuring that priority public health needs are being addressed by the staff of the Department.

FIDDLE WORKSHOP
Internationally acclaimed fiddler, Julie Lyonn Lieberman, will be giving fiddle workshops in November in the Old Avoca (Nebraska) Schoolhouse. On Friday , November 13, starting at 7 PM, the subjects will be "Six Approaches to Jamming", and "Modal Improvisation". On Saturday, November 14, starting at 9 AM, the topics will be "Gypsy Jazz" and "One Tune, Five Styles". These workshops are appropriate for any string player who desire to open their ears to new ways of making music.
JULIE LYONN LIEBERMAN has helped develop the alternative string field over the last thirty-five+ years through her work as an educator, author, radio producer, composer, recording artist, journalist, and performer. Her former students have toured with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Celine Dion, Billy Joel, and one of her former students plays regularly on Dancing with the Stars.
