Madison Nash, 13 of Springfield and her Quarter Horse gelding were the Champions in the Two-Year Old Gelding Lunging Halter class at the Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo. Madison is the daughter of Bob and Tammy Nash.

Hannah Wiese, 14 of Papillion and her horse, Im Blistering Hot were the Champions in the Junior Showmanship, Junior Western Pleasure and Junior Western Horsemanship classes at the Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo in Grand Island. Hannah is the daughter of John Wiese. She is a member of the Riverview Riders 4-H Club. Her trainer is Lisa Hathaway Performance Horses.

The Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo in Grand Island hosted 418 exhibitors ages 10-18, showing 673 horses with 1362 entries. Over 50 counties were represented at the 5 day event.
Competitions included Hippology, Horse Judging, Halter, Showmanship, Western Events including Pleasure, Horsemanship, Trail, Western Riding, Reining, Advanced Pleasure and Horsemanship; Speed Events including Barrel Racing and Pole Bending; English Events including Elementary Dressage, Hunt Seat Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunter Hack, Advanced Hunt Seat Equitation and Advanced Hunter Under Saddle; Ranch Horse Events - Ranch Horse Pleasure and Working Ranch Horse; and Roping Events including Break-A-Way Roping, Calf Roping, Dally Team Roping Heading and Dally Team Roping Heeling.

Sarpy County Representative for Sarpy/Cass Board of Health
The Sarpy/Cass Department of Health and Wellness is currently seeking candidates for an opening to serve as the Sarpy County representative on the Sarpy/Cass Board of Health. Functions of the Health Board include: 1) providing policy guidance on the development of
appropriate public health programs; 2) working to educate the citizens of both counties regarding public health issues; 3) providing Board oversight on the Department’s budget and the Health Director’s performance; 4) and ensuring that priority public health needs are being addressed by the staff of the Department.

FIDDLE WORKSHOP
Internationally acclaimed fiddler, Julie Lyonn Lieberman, will be giving fiddle workshops in November in the Old Avoca (Nebraska) Schoolhouse. On Friday , November 13, starting at 7 PM, the subjects will be "Six Approaches to Jamming", and "Modal Improvisation". On Saturday, November 14, starting at 9 AM, the topics will be "Gypsy Jazz" and "One Tune, Five Styles". These workshops are appropriate for any string player who desire to open their ears to new ways of making music.
JULIE LYONN LIEBERMAN has helped develop the alternative string field over the last thirty-five+ years through her work as an educator, author, radio producer, composer, recording artist, journalist, and performer. Her former students have toured with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Cyndi Lauper, Celine Dion, Billy Joel, and one of her former students plays regularly on Dancing with the Stars.
