Larry Peters was Springfield's favorite UPS delivery driver for 32 years. In March, 1990, Larry turned 40 years old. Main Street businesses helped him celebrate his birthday by decorating their windows with "Happy Birthday" sentiments. When Larry retired in 2008, the Springfield community organized a retirement party at the Springfield Community Building. to thank him for his years of outstanding service.

You have taken the time to choose where you want to put your plants whether they be vegetable or flower. Hopefully you have either started your seeds and/or have your containers purchased so your ready for first excursion into the world of nursery of baby plants of 2022.

If you haven't done your soil prep, make sure it is well drained, raised beds and containers, of course, will require more watering. Also make sure when you're filling them that you check with either our website info guides (http://extension.unl.edu) or call the Douglas-Sarpy County Extension (402) 444-7804.

Your ground should be tilled, plant debris from last year removed and properly disposed of, and when the ground temperature reaches between 50-55 degrees you should be ready to go.

Next we will start to talk about plants in the fairgrounds unless we get a question from the great city of Springfield.
