Welcome Back, Springfield Community!

Summer is here, and there's nothing like the crack of the bat and the roar of the crowd at a baseball game to get us into the season’s spirit! With the College World Series in downtown Omaha, it's a fantastic time for baseball enthusiasts. And don't forget, we’ve got Warner's BB just 6 miles outside of Springfield, perfect for all your baseball needs.

Our community is buzzing with excitement as kids' baseball is also hitting hard in Springfield. Young athletes are showing off their skills, and the energy is contagious. Whether you’re cheering from the stands or hitting the field, baseball season brings us all together.

Here’s to a summer filled with home runs, great plays, and unforgettable memories. Let’s play ball, Springfield!

 PHLOX DAMAGE

Extension Master Gardeners of Douglas/ Sarpy County - Phlox info

Tall garden phlox are looking a little ratty this season thanks to the phlox plant bug. This insect has a piercing/sucking mouth part (similar to aphids) and they will suck the life out of the plant. Damage will manifest as downward cupping, stippling, dead terminal growth, and lack of vigor. There can be two generations a year and they overwinter as eggs on dead phlox stems. To help reduce the insect from reoccurring good fall or early spring sanitation would help remove the eggs. Low impact options would include insecticidal soaps or horticulture oils.
