Welcome Back Springfield
As we enjoy the last weeks of summer, it's time to start looking ahead to one of our nation's most cherished holidays—Labor Day! Originally established to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers, Labor Day has become a time to reflect on the hard work that built our communities and continues to drive our local economy.
While it’s a great opportunity to relax and enjoy time with family and friends, it’s also a chance to support our local businesses. This Labor Day weekend, be sure to stroll through downtown Springfield and check out the amazing sales our local shops have to offer. From unique finds to everyday essentials, there's something for everyone—and your support means so much to the businesses that keep our town vibrant.
Let's make the most of these last days of summer, honoring the spirit of Labor Day by enjoying the fruits of our collective hard work. Happy shopping, and enjoy the weekend!

KINDERGARTEN FIELD TRIP
On September 1, 1988, teacher Mrs. Carol Dill took her Springfield Elementary kindergarten class on a field trip to explore the downtown business area of Springfield. The purpose was to introduce the students to the local businesses in their community. Their tour concluded with a stop at Springfield Drug and Soda Fountain on Main Street, where the children enjoyed a tasty ice cream treat. The kindergarten class was fortunate to take this trip for many years and end their experience with ice cream at the soda fountain. What a fantastic field trip experience!
