A Cosmic Surprise—New Mini Moon Detected!

As we settle into fall, did you know there’s a new 'mini-moon' coming to Earth this season? What are your thoughts on this unique celestial event? Will you be looking up to catch a glimpse?

Earth’s New Visitor: Asteroid 2024 PT5
This fall, Earth will temporarily host an asteroid named "2024 PT5." About 33 feet long, it will be captured by Earth’s gravity from Sept. 29 to Nov. 25, before continuing its journey around the sun. Though some scientists call it a “mini-moon,” it won’t complete a full orbit.

First spotted in South Africa, 2024 PT5 will return in 2055. While it won’t be visible to the naked eye or standard telescopes, professional astronomers are ready to observe it. But rest assured, there’s no risk of collision with Earth!

Until next time, enjoy the season and all it has to offer!

 It Happened in Springfield

In 1984, Papillion attorney Jim Cripe began researching the possibility of building a senior apartment complex in Springfield. The survey results indicated the need for senior housing. For the project, Jim and Sharon Cripe purchased land near 2 nd & Chestnut in August 1985. Springfield city council gave the final approval for the twelve-unit apartment building at the October 1, 1985, meeting. Early December 1986 saw the completion of the building project. An open house was held on December 28 before residents, 62 and older, began moving in on December 31 st .

COME ON OVER!

This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity.  People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together.

Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.

Did You Know?

Cherry Fact: Did you know that Washington, D.C.'s famous cherry trees change colors in the fall? While they’re best known for their stunning pink blossoms in spring, these trees transform into vibrant shades of orange, red, and yellow in the autumn months, offering a second, lesser-known display of beauty in the nation’s capital.

Fall in the U.S. isn’t just about pumpkins—it's also a season of colorful surprises!
