IT HAPPENED IN SPRINGFIELD HISTORY

History Pitstop

Behind the counter, pictured left to right: Tom Buskirk Jr., Dan Post, Rick Buskirk, Lila Petersen, Shirley Buskirk, Judy Wichman, Tom Buskirk, Sr.

B & B Pit Stop celebrated their first anniversary on May 1, 1990. The family-run business was owned by Tom and Shirley Buskirk. The Buskirk’s expanded their long time B & B Garage operations to include a location at 14111 Platteview Rd. with a gas station and convenience store. Besides overseeing their business operations, Tom ran a tank wagon service and Shirley worked part time as the secretary at Springfield United Methodist Church and as an assistant at the Springfield Library.  Son Tom Jr.  (Moose) and wife Jodi managed the Pit Stop while son, Rick, ran the service garage on 2nd and Locust Street.

SPRINGFIELD AREA MASTER GARDENERS NEWS

RAIN!!! OMG RAIN!!! There will be farmers and gardeners dancing in the fields!!!

But...you now have to figure out a couple of things. Watering your gardens may or may not be tricky.
If you're a hand waterer like most, you must try and adhere to the rule: water from below. You can invite a lot of issues watering from above like rusts or rot. Watering from under the leaves of the plant (and not to excess) can limit problems. Keep in mind, watering early in the morning as possible also let's the plants soak it up and help with the summer sun.
When testing water issues, place a long screw driver in the ground and see how far down you have any ground moisture. Might be a little different this year with the drought, always keep an eye on potted plants, and consider location, location, location.
So hopefully soon, we can start soon. Ground temperature: 53 degrees.
Grow Green!
